Metal Magazine Analysis

With this magazine front cover I have tried to portray the genre through varies aspects for example the title of the magazine is “Rockstar” which fits perfectly with the genre as the genre for this magazine is metal, and metal is associated with the colour black. Also everything that the artist is wearing is black the connotation for this can be dull, evil and mysterious. Moreover she is holding an instrument which is a black guitar the way in which she has placed that instrument between her legs gives her more of a masculine role it shows her power towards the guitar and how close she feels towards it. The location of this image is a in a graveyard this also relates to the genre and the colours of the background give a cold effect. I have added that the magazine includes an “exclusive interview” with this upcoming artist, in a red and bold font to grab the audience’s attention. I chose the colour red as it stands out to what she is wearing; the connotation of the red font could be the danger, fire and blood. On the top right had corner I have included a small image of a skull from my research I found that most metal magazine include icons like these this is why I decided to add one on my magazine front  cover. On the bottom right had corner I decide to introduce a section of the magazine this was so that the customers are interested by the article and are persuaded to buy it. However applying this to my actual magazine front cover may not be suitable, as most magazine front covers include short articles and waste little time adding a lot of text this may be due to the fact that it takes up a lot of space which would mean less space for an affective picture. I have added a barcode on the bottom left this is because the bar code is normally seen at the bottom on most magazines.
